Should She Give Him [Yet] Another Chance?

The most recent "Murphy's Love" column in The Georgetowner addresses the difficult subject of addiction and its impact on relationships. She loves her boyfriend and knows he's a great father to their kids, but only when he's sober, and that's not something she can always predict. Though it feels counterintuitive - and hurts a lot - sometimes making someone leave is the best gift you can give. It might be the jolt a person needs to recognize that the addictive behavior actually does have an impact on the lives of those he loves. It might be what he needs to finally get help. But at the very least, asking him to leave can show your children that there are real, enforceable boundaries set to protect them from harm. Read the full story here.
